"Predator" (1987) Directed by John McTiernan. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, this film, depicting a deadly battle between carnivorous aliens and a commando unit deep in the jungle, became a representative action sci-fi film of the 80s. A commando unit led by Schaefer is dispatched to the South American jungle to rescue a government official who has been taken prisoner. Just as they successfully rescued the prisoners, something suddenly attacked them. The attack was brutal and ruthless; the bodies vanished, leaving no trace of blood, only the internal organs. Schaefer discovered that the enemy was a vicious carnivorous beast from outer space—a Predator!
