In this crime-ridden region, the police force was run by the giant private corporation OmniCorp. To reduce violent crime, the company developed heavily armed, large police robots. One day, Officer Murphy, who had just been transferred to the Detroit police force, discovered the hideout of Clarence and his gang of dangerous criminals. He infiltrated the hideout but was surrounded and brutally murdered. His body was recovered by OmniCorp and eventually resurrected as RoboCop.
